Only 28% of 9-year-olds say they love reading. (Scholastic)
I help families build a culture of literature…
But how do you get an uninterested middle-grade student excited about reading?
How do you know which books are capable of enriching your child’s mind and imagination?
And where do you find inspiration for tech-free learning and play?
You know reading is one of the best ways to help them develop personally and academically.
Learn More About Katie
I’ve been a professional writer for over a decade, and I believe we desperately need stories that teach children how to be courageous and brave. After seeing the lack of plot-driven stories and rich, real characters available for young adults, I knew I wanted to improve the selection as a children's fantasy and adventure author.
I’m currently penning an original children’s book series. I also share regular blog posts with imaginative – yet practical – inspiration for parents and educators.
I love working with parents, teachers, home school communities, and schools that recognize and appreciate the role of high-quality literature in educating and nurturing our students. It’s an honor to speak to parent groups and other organizations about encouraging a love and appreciation for reading, even in the most technology-obsessed children.
When I’m not writing, speaking, or losing myself in a good book, you can find me spending time outdoors with my husband, hosting beautiful tea parties for my girlfriends, or tending to my vegetable and flower gardens.
